I created this group for a couple of purposes but the main reason is the ownership of Sierra Circle. As the lot owners in Bel Mar plat Unit 11, we collectively own Sierra Circle Park. It is truly an amazing treed green space with no equal in south Tampa. Let's keep it that way. For many years the City has been edging, mowing, and picking up debris the park, but now the City has stopped maintaining Sierra Circle. They cannot maintain something they do not own. Like it or not, we, the lot owners, are all responsible for its maintenance. To avoid the threat of getting a code violation for overgrowth of the grass, etc, I'm hoping we can use this group as a forum to come together and decide how we are to maintain it. I'm not a big fan of social media, but this FB group could be really helpful to come together to agree on how best to maintain the park's natural beauty, as well as potentially organize neighborhood events, keep each other informed during hurricanes, City road closures, TECO construction, etc. I'm also emailing with the City to create a City recognized Neighborhood association (NOT an HOA). One of us can then be listed as a point of contact with the City for any notifications or alerts. Janelle Gregor from the City will help us organize an initial meeting at Jan Platt so we can further the discussion, possibly as early as mid-August.
